BT Network Planning & Design Professional in Bangalore, India

Purpose Of Role :-

Part of Global Service Operations Configuration Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Joint Service Implementation (JSI) the role holder will provide leadership role on multiple configuration activities on BT’s global platforms including integration of new infrastructure, preparing and implementing network changes; migrating customer services in support of major BT programmes; Network Validation Testing; the provision and implementation of Global Banking &Financial Management services.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Subject matter expert for configuration activity within GSO in India. Owning and develop CoE process ensuring all activity is completed waste free and Right First Time.

  • Network Planning, NTSO, Conformance, Network Design, Systems development teams, E2E delivery managers

  • Forward thinking, understanding configuration impacts to all service changes, developing process and training plans for the whole team.

  • Provide complex configuration activity across all technologies.

  • Take lead configuration role in major projects / programmes and as CoE grows manage team of Network Change Engineers

  • To enable the BT IA, MPLS and Etherflow core network for new features and services for our customers while maintaining network stability.

  • Responsible for working with planning and implementation. Ensuring successful integration and deployment of new features and software upgrades.

  • Constant improvements in network change methodology minimizing the risks to customer services. Improvement methods will be in accordance with the LEAN/CI ways of working.

  • Produce migration designs in cooperation with Engineering and EPSO.

  • Ensuring the 24/7 front line ability to carry out their operational task in a network under change.

  • Responsible for keeping the network in sync with the BT IA, MPLS and Etherflow core network design. (POP build document)

  • Provide clear and complete reports after a network outage caused by planned work. Produce improvement plan where applicable and demonstrate ownership.

  • Migrate customer services in support of BT Closure and Access Optimization programmes

  • Network Validation Testing for any new service change in line with design alterations

  • Responsible for ensuring the technical configuration solution meets the GB&FM customer service requirements for orders, which include separacy, diversity, COS and performance requirements.

  • Vet and Implement the agreed design for the GN&FM customer order.

Business Impact :

  • Acts as the central core of technical expertise on aspects of the company network designs.

Authority/Decision Making :

  • Plans and owns the delivery of the pre-provisioning of network elements to ensure that nodes are always capable of supporting orders.

  • Supervises the monitoring, tracking and analysis network equipment utilisation.

Qualifications :

  • B.E or B.Tech Education background with relevant hands on experience

Skills/Experience :

  • Master the English language both in writing as spoken.

  • Expert knowledge on Ethernet switching.

  • Expert knowledge on IP and IP control plane protocols.

  • Expert knowledge on IP-MPLS

  • Basic Unix skills

  • A minimum of 6 years experience with Cisco routers. CCNA essential.

  • Basic knowledge and experience configuring Juniper M series.

  • Basic knowledge and experience configuring Alcatel 7750 series and TE.

  • In depth understanding of the BT product development process.

  • Work in a customer focused environment, work will require rotating to different shifts, and provide on-call 24x7 support.
