BT Technical Design Architect (CISCO Datacenter specialist) in Barcelona, Spain

Purpose of the role:

The TDA is responsible for driving business relevant innovation through identification of emerging technologies which result in new services delivering business value

Activities and Tasks:

Understand potential technologies and learning from other organisations:

- Provide commentary on current use of technology and effectiveness in supporting business needs

- Draft the white papers taking input from analysts and from specialists across the operation

Define & review stakeholder management plan:

- Contribute to identification and mapping of stakeholders in plan

Implement plan and meet with key stakeholders.

Identify & generate & qualify opportunity.

Translate qualified opportunity to project.

Research future technology directions based on external inputs and synthesise implications & recommendations for use in roadmap process.

Provide technical advice and information.

Conduct governance to enact technical decisions.

Develop outline service solution, costs, plan, commercial model.

Assess market review and determine actions: recommended portfolio adjustments.

Authority/Decision Making :

  • Works under broad direction.

  • Full accountability for own technical work or project/ management responsibilities.

  • Receives assignments in the form of objectives.

  • Establishes own milestones, team objectives and delegates assignments.

  • Work is often self-initiated.

Qualifications :

  • Likely to have relevant, contemporary and industry recognised qualifications appropriate to the specific function

  • Likely to have a degree qualification (engineering/science) or has served a technical apprenticeship

  • Relevant professional experience

Skills/Experience :

  • Fluent Spanish and English required.

  • UE work permit.

  • Experienced and fully competent in own area.

  • Acts as a key contributor in a complex/ critical environment.

  • Ability to lead and motivate cross functional teams to ensure delivery to cost, quality and time.

  • Co-ordinates activities of others (team leader).
