Purpose Of Role:
The role holder qualifies and manages bids of a complex and/or high-risk nature (typically outsourcing, solutions and multi vendor designs) from initial qualification to successful acceptance by the customer.

Accountable for the production of quality proposal documents, ensuring that proposals are commercially viable and deliverable, ensuring that BT is not exposed legally and returns an agreed margin.

Key Responsibilities:
To effectively manage a virtual team in complex bid activities.
To be fully conversant with BT’s systems and processes, as applicable
To take lead responsibility for a specific bid, manage bid delivery and the associated resources, and act as the single point of contact.
To document the qualification of sales opportunities.
To apply commercial knowledge to accurately build and model costs and prices, and evaluate and mitigate risk and potential.
Will expertly use a number of bid management tools and techniques (for risk, cost, pricing, qualification planning, document production etc) in support of all bid activities.
To take ownership of the offer management process.
To form and lead the bid team, co-ordinating all bid activity through the application of standard procedures.
To co-ordinate sales strategy, technical design, project management, commercial input, authorisation and formal document production and negotiations at senior levels, within major customer and supplier environments.
To co-ordinate all resources as necessary to support proposal production.
To protect and grow BT’s business with customers.
Develop and manage the interface with suppliers both internal and external for the purpose of producing winning bids.
To line manage, develop and coach a team of Bid Managers / Bid Support Managers, as appropriate.
Will attend customer meetings providing support to the sales team.

Manages identified risks and develops strategies to reduce the impact of these risks.
Acts as bid issue escalation point and is responsible for resolution management.

Qualifications:
Educated to degree level, or relevant job experience.

Skills/Experience:
Proven track record at a senior level, able to influence at a senior level.
Knowledge of BT systems, processes and regulatory environment.
Appreciation of the relevant technical or commercial background issues, able to understand technical solutions and to question the proposed design.
Strong interpersonal skills with a capacity to develop and mentor Bid Managers.
Methodology skills deploying project management principles, and an ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Required to support bid activities across the island of Ireland as required.
