Description of the role:
The role holder will lead a number of online activities to support the development, optimisation and evolution of BT.com. This is a wholly technical role which focuses on the creation, management and improvement of webpages and site content.
As a manager in the Consumer Online Production team you'll be key in helping deliver BT's web presence and support online sales and self-service. The role holder must have a strong working application of web technologies and possess the specialised skills essential for an online production role.

Key tasks and responsibilities:
* Ability to deliver and lead the production, modification and maintenance of webpages/emails to meet current BT standards i.e. at least to W3C WAI WCAG 2.0 AA standards for multiple browser and device compliance
* Lead the delivery of compelling content/creative to launch new products and propositions
* Co-ordinate and oversee updates on existing webpages by setting/agreeing realistic timescales
* To be more skilled/productive than junior or less experienced grades, whilst aiming at being as skilled/productive as a Senior Marketing Manager performing similar roles
* Management of site content using various content management tools and systems
* Thorough understanding of testing and optimisation of online order journeys
* Point of contact for external agencies to offer guidance/best practice on BT.com implementation
* Maintain a high awareness of industry issues and trends, particularly in regard to accessibility, usability, and emerging technologies, and keep team members informed as appropriate
* Contribute and identify needed documentation (instructional and technical specification)
* Will lead and plan significant change to the site ranging from marketing updates to full site redesigns, within time and budget to rigorous quality standards.
* Typically the role holder will lead the management of online projects and daily tasks
* Crucial role in supporting more junior team member and offering assistance on complex tasks, both managerial and technical
* Proactively work to improve processes/coding standards and know when to challenge change, where there may be a better way of doing something, or if it was against site policy/guidelines.
* To be recognised as an online expert who stakeholders proactively engage with outside of specific tasks – provide innovative ideas and technical solutions to meet customer requirements.
* To be the first point of contact on tasks owned/managed and be a point of escalation for issues and faults
* Ability to delegate tasks amongst other team members and identify/utilise others strengths
* Provide accurate timing estimates on work and communicate to senior stakeholders effectively.
Skills/Experience:
* Advanced HTML and CSS knowledge is key (XHTML/HTML5/CSS3)
* JavaScript experience is essential with an ability to code solutions using jQuery as well as debug and amend existing files
* Possess a strong working application of W3C and WCAG 2.0 standards
* Strong skills in Photoshop and image manipulation
* Experience using a content management system is preferred – ideally using Interwoven TeamSite 6.7+
* Keen eye for detail and ability to work to stretching deadlines
* Thorough knowledge of SEO and an understanding of web analytics
* Ability to identify and resolve complex site errors, using problem solving methodologies, technical experience and appropriate tools.
* To have a reputation for delivering tasks right first time without the need for correction
* An understanding of back-end technology and its integration with front-end is beneficial
* Knowledge of BT Retail’s product portfolio is useful
* Other desired skills include cross-device development, Facebook/app experience and involvement in large scale site/platform implementation.
