ROLE: TCAP Tools Lead
Single point of contact for all service & infrastructure monitoring tools strategy, delivery, support and evolution.
- Support the Head of TCAP in the setup and running of TCAP from greenfield to stable and high performing function, specifically taking the lead responsibility for establishing the Tools & Systems Management discipline.
Manage Tools & Systems Management delivery and staff:
Establish organisational objectives and responsibilities.
Make decisions critical to organisational success.
Achieve organisational objectives and financial performance.
Take initiative to keep both own and subordinate skills up to date and to maintain an awareness of developments in TCAP scope
Provide Tools & Systems Management capabilities:
Develop and maintain strategy and road map for service & infrastructure monitoring tools
Work with stakeholders from ZIG and BT to identify and clarify requirements for service & infrastructure monitoring tools - covers both new and existing tools
Chair the monthly Tools Monitoring Forum to facilitate the above communication.
Undertake strategic tool investigations/development and new enquiries.
Continually review the service & infrastructure monitoring tools market
Accountable for technical blueprints and standards associated with design, deployment and operation of the service & infrastructure monitoring tools
The design and communication of high-level structures to enable and guide the design and development of service & infrastructure monitoring tools to meet current and future business needs.
The provision of comprehensive guidance on the development of, and modifications to, solution components to ensure that they take account of relevant architectures, strategies, policies, standards and practices and that existing and planned solution components remain compatible.
Use appropriate tools, including logical models of components and interfaces, to contribute to the development of service & infrastructure monitoring tools architectures.
Produce detailed component specifications / technical blueprints and translates these into detailed designs for implementation using selected products.
Within a change programme, assists in the preparation of technical plans and cooperates with business assurance and project staff to ensure that appropriate technical resources are made available.
Within a change programme, manages the target design, policies and standards, working proactively to maintain a stable, viable architecture and ensure consistency of design across projects within the programme.
Provides advice on technical aspects of system development and integration (including requests for changes, deviations from specifications, etc.) and ensures that relevant technical strategies, policies, standards and practices are applied correctly.
Accountable for the balance between functional, service quality and systems management requirements within service & infrastructure monitoring tools.
Establishes policy and strategy for the selection of service & infrastructure monitoring tools components, and co-ordinates design activities, promoting the architecture to ensure consistency.
Contribute to the Tools & Systems management process and its operation and perform defined Tools & Systems management tasks
Ensure that the policy and standards for Tools & Systems management are fit for purpose, current and are correctly implemented.
Review new business proposals and provide specialist advice on tools/systems issues.
Work with customer stakeholders to agree prioritisation of tools/systems and TCAP deliverables associated with specific tools/systems
Identify opportunities for automation to reduce cost or reduce error rates
Provide a range of Network/IT tools/systems reporting to ensure that agreed levels are measured and monitored on an ongoing basis
Conduct problem risk assessment for existing services
Accountable for all risks owned by Tools & Systems Management:
Carries out risk assessment within a defined functional or technical area of business.
Uses consistent processes for identifying potential risk events, quantifying and documenting the probability of occurrence and the impact on the business.
Owns and/or support the development of mitigations and contingency plans.
Refers to domain experts for guidance on specialised areas of risk, such as architecture and environment.
Quality assures Tools & Systems Management output prior to publication for the protection of both BT and the client
Ensures a robust line of sight and auditable trail between raw data and published end results
Ensure that BT satisfies and can evidence the meeting of all of the contractual obligations relating to Tools & Systems Management
Collaborates and attends meetings with customer, regarding the cross functional TCAP and application aware approach.
Schedules and drives client facing reviews of Tools & Systems Management outcomes
Accountable for maintaining appropriate process ownership and associated interface for Develop Technology Roadmap & Policies and Manage Support IT Systems & Tools processes.
