BT Federal is British Telecom's U.S.-based, US Government focused on professional services, global network, cyber security and systems integration business. The company leverages it’s global IP network to design, develop and manage secure IT and integrated global communication networks. Services offered are secure messaging, identity and access management, wired and wireless network integration and mobile applications.
Technical Solutions Architect will be the subject matter expert for architecting, design and engineering BT Federal Global telecommunication, cyber security and advanced IT networking products and services solutions for the US Government and its agencies. The Technical Solutions Architect will lead the design and engineering of Technical solutions for proposals and or projects, work directly with BT Federal Sales in pursuit/support of new/existing customer relationships, serve as technology subject matter expert for internal BT Federal teams as well as external partners and customers.
This position will develop/champion new Telecommunications networking ideas/technologies, solve complex networking problems with significant business impact, provide consultative direction for long-range customer business objectives, and interact internally with management and customers on significant business matters. The position also requires the ability to lead and mentor team members in the lifecycle support of these global products and services, while working with operations teams to improve solution availability and efficiencies.
Develops solution architecture designs, studies and plans; supports design, engineering readiness, and operational readiness reviews.
Provides recommendations on solution/network engineering approaches and strategies for new and continued business.
Develops and manages global network solutions including solution engineering and design standards to ensure compliance, relevancy, and sustainability.
Works directly with existing and future customers in a consultative capacity to resolve complex networking challenges.
Proactively researches and evaluates tools and technologies, as appropriate, to the customer network environment, while developing solutions to increase performance and lower the total cost of ownership.
BSEE, BSCE or BSCS with communications focus and a minimum of 14 year’s relevant networking experience.
Minimum of ten (10) total years of experience in the architecture/design, engineering, development, and implementation of complex Wide Area Network (WAN) architectures.
Minimum of Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Cisco Certified Design Expert (CCDE), or Cisco Certified Design Professional (CCDP) certification.
Must have proven ability to architect, design, engineer and support network solutions.
Expert level knowledge and hands on experience of networks using protocols such as BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, IS-IS, MPLS VPNs and emerging concepts such as Software Defined Networking.
Expert with LAN and datacenter technologies such as Ethernet, Spanning Tree Protocol, First Hop Redundancy protocols.
Experience implementing and troubleshooting WAN topologies using OSI layers 1 through 4.
Excellent customer skills for direct interaction with customers and BT Federal teams.
Exceptional verbal, written (including the development of proposal documentation), interpersonal, and presentation skills required.
Preferred Additional Qualifications:
Experience with network and performance management tools, security tools and appliances, layer two technologies, wireless communications, cloud computing and telecommunications services and technologies is preferred.
Experience working in a telecommunications carrier environment performing large-scale (1000 sites) mission critical network architecture, design and engineering activities is a plus.
Self-motivated and resourceful in achieving goals independently as well as in cooperation with others.
Flexibility to adjust to changing requirements, schedules, and priorities.
The ability to socialize ideas, make recommendations, and gather team consensus to move forward.
CCIE certification preferred.
Ability to work with all levels of US Government is a plus
