Key Purpose of the Role:
To architect WAN (SD-WAN), LAN, Voice, Audio and Video conferencing, trading systems and WLAN solutions enabling customer growth and revenue generation against customer submitted change requests for a large Multi-National Company (MNC).
Articulate the architectural components into discreet work packages for the various SME internal design teams
Ensure that High and low level designs are consistent with the architecture and work end to end as a envisioned
Mandate and validate the production of high level design documentation, network diagrams and Bills of Materials.
Mandate and validate the production of low level and site designs for field engineers to implement
Oversee deployment of the designed solution including the resolution of any issues.
Supporting customer meetings and presentations as required.
Provide applicable industry technical compliance and governance.
Owns the ‘end to end’ technical architecture on medium size custom / complex contracts or discreet parts of large contracts (US in this instance)
Technical governance for their area of architectural responsibility
Ensure designs produced for specific elements of complex solutions are consistent with the overall architecture and work as specified
Apply technological solutions to business problems
Develop an understanding of customer IT ecosystem
Support Complex Change Control activities
Establish and develop ‘trusted advisor’ relationship with customer
Scope out requirements for BT back office design functions
Proactively identify opportunities for growth
Look for margin improvement opportunities
Work closely with Business and Service Managers
Maintain knowledge on BT capabilities and MU campaigns
Develop Technology Roadmaps
Promote BT as an innovative partner for our customer, as part of a broader innovation program.
Ownership of all service tower (WAN, LAN, IPT, Video) designs for a large MNC customer network
To analyze customer submitted service/change requests for network changes and agree/validate the new requirements with the customer.
Provide technical & architectural governance
Assure production of HLD’s, quotes, network diagrams and Bills of Materials fulfilling the customer’s requirements within the agreed customer network architecture and design guidelines.
To produce LLD’s and detailed site designs for 3rd party field engineering resources to deploy on behalf of BT.
Oversee the deployment of the designed solution including the resolution of any issues with the 3rd party installed and other BT teams.
Liaison with P&SD Customer Network Design teams and BT Operate/GCS. Liaison with the solution architects and wider BT service delivery organizations.
Indirect responsibility for others assigned to WAN and LAN design projects.
Responsible for charging time and labor to projects and delivering to agreed contracted commercials.
Principal Working Relationships:
Customers: GS Global Services Channels, account teams, P&SD – Solution Architects, GCS Global Customer Service – Program Delivery Directors and Project Managers and end customer
Suppliers: 21CN BT Platform Development Teams, External Vendors, Telecom Providers
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
Master’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering is preferred.
Relevant industry certifications are a plus.
Skills and Experience:
Detailed understanding of Cisco Routing and Switching.
Detailed understanding of Cisco IP Telephony.
Detailed understanding of MPLS- or hybrid-based Wide Area Networks, especially those deployed for large multi-national customers.
Detailed understanding of Cisco LAN switches and WAN routers, configuration and deployment.
Detailed understanding of WLAN configuration and deployment.
Detailed understanding of routing protocols including BGP.
Detailed understanding of Cisco IoS and CLI.
Good Understanding of Internet based networks and IPSec tunneling techniques.
Good understanding of video conferencing technologies.
Proven experience of working directly with customers .
Experience of working in a matrixed global organization supporting local and remote teams delivering solutions to customer requirements.
Good appreciation of commercial aspects of network design.
Ability to maintain accuracy & quality when being asked to deliver under pressure.
Ability to prioritize and & apply time management principles.
Experience in influencing and supporting business cases for major bids.
Well-developed reporting and presentation skills.
Successful in maintaining productive working relationships with other BT departments.
Ability to identify opportunities for business growth and initiate and drive improvements including re-usable components.
Ability to work with Telecom Providers and integrate in a multi-vendor environment.
Excellent written, oral and presentation skills and analytical skills.
Self-starting, straightforward personality with pragmatic problem solving skills.
Strong focus on results and able to keep delivering to high standards under time pressure.
Ability to successfully juggle many customer designs simultaneously.
Ability to consistently meet project timelines.
Existing authorization to work in the United States is required.
