What you'll be doing

This is a multi-discipline role requiring an experienced, diligent and highly motivated individual with great communication skills.

Extensive travel required within the allotted area, with a flexible working attitude a must.

Over time you will become the ‘subject matter’ expert for all National Trust site based activity providing local hands and eyes whilst assisting the IT Business Partners in developing solutions that improve not only the NT users experience but also that of their visitors.

The role includes low level site Project Management in order to facilitate any Change, Project or Small works activity where such work involves a BT third party or collaborative supplier.

You will be dedicated full time to your specific region, will maintain and own your diary while liaising closely with the ITBP.

Installation and configuration of Cisco WAN and LAN equipment.

Produce solutions and proposals for any LAN/WAN installations or enhancements.

Maintain detailed records of site layout and configurations, including responsibility for communication room environments and labelling of all key infrastructure equipment for clear identification.

Fulfil small ad hoc on site changes within the BT core contract that do not require formal RFC approval such as patching, move of extensions, management of Communication Cabinets, etc. This includes identification, approval and ordering of necessary products or components required to fulfil stated activity through BT operations agents.

Complete physical site environment surveys where they are required, to ensure successful completion of any new IT Project or Change delivered by BT, Collaborative Partner or Third Party. It will include working alongside other site based NT staff and where appropriate the engagement of other third parties required to deliver a completely documented site survey with pricing. i.e. Electrical, Planning and Building Regulations etc.

Carry out site surveys for new cabling requirement where they are capable of doing so and/or liaise with ITBP and third party, utilising their experience and expertise.

Responsible for the creation, approval and success of any site based Change implementation by BT under their scope of services. This includes the liaison and management of any BT resource on site.

Responsible for input to any Change delivered by a third party. This includes liaison with local NT staff, ITBP’s and third parties.

Oversee and provide advice and guidance to a collaborative partner or third party, including instances where the third party is fulfilling a change outside the scope of BT.

Minimum 3 Years network support experience

Minimum 3 years liaising with clients in a technical/consultancy role

Proven ability to troubleshoot, own and resolve cases

Experience of Network troubleshooting, in depth knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols, NAT, switches, routers, firewalls

Experience of Voice troubleshooting, softswitch technologies, SIP trunks, ISDN

Experience with the following manufacturers products Cisco, Avaya

Dealing with third party suppliers, owning and managing small works/ projects

Experience in structured cabling systems, patching

Delivering site surveys, updating documentation

CCNA qualified

Clean UK driving licence
