Why this role matters

This Finance Manager is a key role for the BT Supply Chain finance team in Wholesale and Ventures line of business (LOB), with responsibility for reporting and consolidation for all units within Supply Chain results.

What you'll be doing

• Finance Manager role for the BT Supply Chain finance team in Wholesale and Ventures LOB, with responsibility for reporting and consolidation for all units within Supply Chain results.

• This is a key finance role within Wholesale and Ventures, which has a significant part to play in delivering the business, financial and operational results and setting stretching but achievable forecasts and budget.

• The post holder will be responsible for providing valuable insight for the Ventures FD and Wholesale and Ventures FC across their monthly results as well as consolidating and reviewing local forecasts and analysing trends to drive action and decision making for BT Supply Chain.

• They will regularly influence senior management thinking and develop commercially sound solutions that influence business unit results, by using breadth of vision and technical knowledge to solve complex problems. They will be comfortable influencing strategy and be able to translate it into actionable programmes, opportunities or activities.

• To continually drive quality improvement, efficiency, and thereby cost reduction against all of the above processes functions.

• To align processes and procedures with Wholesale and Ventures.

• This role also has full responsibility for the end-to-end P&L, Balance sheet, budgets and forecasts and all associated governance and processes.

Nature of the work:

• Financial control and delivery of the month and quarter-end reporting cycles, including preparation and review of Directories Enterprises financial performance (P&L and Balance Sheet) to ensure results are prepared in accordance with consistent accounting standards. Onward presentation of individual and consolidated results to Ventures FD, SFM and FM’s.

• Provide insight and share understanding of month-end results variances and year-on-year, quarter-on-quarter movements as well as forecasting, clearly explaining and summarising/reporting on business unit Risks and Opportunities against local forecasts.

• Lead the relationship with the other parties for every internal trade - both as customer and supplier (Forecast and actuals) for BT Supply Chain.

• System and process lead for BT Supply Chain Finance. Challenging those processes to ensure optimum performance and efficiency to eliminate process inefficiencies, re-work within the process, duplication and ultimately leading to standardisation.

• Assurance: Adherence to accounting policies, process completeness, SOX compliance and asset registration for SME Enterprises and Directories Nature of the problems

Controlling the financial forecasts during a period of major change. Two major change programmes impacting:-

• Bt Supply chain move from BT Business to new Wholesale and Ventures LOB. Requires new structures, systems, and reporting to be put in place.

• Finance Transformation, a 2 year programme to overhaul and restructure the financial reporting and systems stack.

Managing peak workloads against very tight timescales such as during BRF processes.

Support formal reviews of BRF and Budget with LoB CEO and CFO

Briefings and presentations for Leadership team

Resource Complexity:

Cross-team working between the Wholesale and Ventures Planning, Reporting and Ventures finance teams will be regularly required

Change:

• This is a new line of business and as such is a considerable change, requiring new processes to be created as well as managed.

• Major organisational restructure in Wholesale and Ventures will require budgets and forecasts to be recut into the new structure along with synergy challenges.

• Requires new structures, systems, and reporting to be put in place

• Finance Transformation, a 2 year programme to overhaul and restructure the financial reporting and systems stack.

We'll also need to see these on your CV

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) or exceptionally qualified by experience.

• Good technical understanding of accountancy and finance

• Good organisation and structure

• Able to provide insight into financial performance

• Good stakeholder management
