Head of Field Operations - Mobile Networks

At BT, Republic of Ireland, we are looking to hire a Head of Field Operations to be based in Dublin.

The suitable candidate will be a natural Leader with a solid background within Mobile filed operations and expertise across a range of networks.

This role will be leading across a portfolio of projects both internal and customer facing and will include direct leadership of a team of 4, and heading up an overall division of circa 60 heads.

This key role is fundamental in the smooth operation of our mobile networks for BT ROI and our internal / external stakeholders.

What you'll be doing

  • Build and lead an extensive, complex and diverse Field team, engaged in the effective delivery of all products & services to customers.

  • Drive “best in class” delivery experience for our customers & quality of service across all engineering functions to meet committed service levels

  • Management of senior customer and stakeholder engagement internal and external.

  • Own continuous improvement across e2e process, driving an improved customer experience whilst optimizing unit costs.

  • Drive customer experience and own relationship with key customers.

  • Have best in class key metrics for Right First Team (RFT), delivery and fault SLA including productivity measures.

  • Lead and manage change within the Field teams, ensuring all change initiatives are effectively implemented and that they subsequently transform the business unit performance.

  • Motivate, inspire and provide leadership & direction to the field managers and Engineer’s across a dispersed team

  • Negotiating and delivering yearly department expense budgets, including staff cost expenses.

  • Delivery and ongoing management of Opex and Capex budgets and optimising cash flow improving cost base.

  • Deliver financial targets: TLC, Cost (SG&A and Cost of Sale), Efficiency / Effectiveness and Investment.

  • Drive transformational change agenda including technology

  • Actively contribute to the BT Ireland ROI Networks leadership team, demonstrating leadership

  • Dynamic leadership capability and with a proven track record in delivering high client satisfaction, productivity and people motivation - preferably in a field environment.

  • Strong operational experience of a large scale people organisation.

  • Very good/detailed understanding of the operation of the relevant network/field infrastructure & RAN networks

  • Change Management experience and ITIL preferable.

  • Negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills are required at peer, Director and Managing Director levels within BT, Client and Supplier organisations.

  • Financial acumen - a strong financial background is required, due to cost management, budget and P&L responsibilities


  • Degree in Electronic /Electric Engineering (preferable).

  • Industrial accreditation at typically professional in appropriate topics (Specifically CCNA/CCNP Accredited)

  • Qualification in Health and Safety

  • Network: Cisco WAN/LAN, Huawei WAN/LAN, Nokia Wan , QOS, IPSec, DSL, FttX, Ethernet, Leased Line, IPv6, MPLS, MetroE, Radio Access Network understanding of 2G, 3G and 4G & 5G
