Why this role matters

The Consumer FP&A function works in partnership with the CFO and Finance Controller to develop stretching forecasts (including medium term plans) and help the business deliver financial and operational results. Reporting into the Consumer Planning Lead the role has a mix of planning, analysis and business partnering responsibilities as well as giving hands on experience of working with each of the Consumer sub divisional units (Voice, Broadband, Mobile, TV, Sport, PlusNet, Customer Care) on a day to day basis.

What you'll be doing

The role holder will support the Consumer Planning Lead in producing, analysing and communicating critical outputs from the planning process including bi-annual forecasts, quarterly Business Unit Reviews (BUR), monthly Risks & Opportunities (R&O) and weekly Ready Reckoners. The successful candidate will be commercially oriented with strong financial analytical and communication abilities and hold advanced Excel and Hyperion skills.

Key responsibilities:

  • Management of the monthly and intra month R&O processes ensuring financial assumptions are well understood and submissions from divisional units are accurate & timely

  • Challenge divisional units to improve forecast accuracy and management of their overall R&O position

  • Management of Consumer profit protection activities including the tracking of delivery of opportunities against plan

  • Support the planning and execution of the detailed and complex bi-annual forecasting processes as well as the BUR and R&O, including production of high-quality and insightful outputs to senior stakeholders including Consumer CFO and Group CFO

  • Drive continuous improvement to streamline and simplify processes and remove non-value add activities/inefficiencies

  • Own the end to end processes for forecasting SG&A (incl. TLC / TLR) as part of bi-annual forecast process including storyboarding and presenting to FD/CFO

  • Develop and manage production of key management information (including KPIs) to help communicate trends on actual and forecast business performance to both internal and external stakeholders

  • Collaborate and build strong professional relationships with the wider Consumer and Group Finance planning teams to help meet business objectives

  • Use finance systems and Excel to provide insightful, value-add and timely management information and analysis

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)

  • Strong communicator and excellent stakeholder management skills

  • Practical understanding of IFRS15 desirable

  • Ability to simplify and distil complex information in order to deliver key messages

  • Ability to work on multiple projects to tight timescales

  • Excellent Excel and advanced Powerpoint skills

  • Advanced Hyperion / Smartview interrogation skills
