Senior Specialist Security Networks / Systems

Why this role matters

Two posts one focusing on Mobile Core and the other in Mobile 5G Radio Access Network (RAN)

The role holder will work with a team of security professionals, providing consultancy to the business on all aspects of mobile network and services security, concentrating on the next generation of mobile core or next generation of mobile 5G Radio Access Network (RAN). They will be expected to become a subject matter expert in the mobility area, with a focus on 5G going forward, and to be capable of leading on behalf of the Network and Services Security Design and Assurance team, on major mobility projects and programmes. They will be expected to engage with designers working on mobility programmes, and mobile standards teams, at the highest technical level, to be able to communicate at the highest level with fellow professionals in the security community, and to lead on dealings with 3rd parties and suppliers when required. The role itself will involve the scoping and delivery of detailed security designs and security compliance documentation, liaison with and guidance and leadership for security testing teams ensuring compliance of network equipment, taking the lead on security assurance processes, secure configuration of networking equipment, ownership of network troubleshooting issues.

What you'll be doing

• To be accountable for detailed security design and strategy for mobility programmes, with a focus on mobile core or RAN

• To be accountable for detailed security requirements capture, and security aspects of adjudication, during core/ mobility programme ITTs

• To be accountable for appropriate liaison with 3rd parties, suppliers and other parts of BT, during core/ mobility programme ITTs, design and compliance processes

• To be accountable for delivery of, and consultancy to others covering our Security Assessment and Compliance System (SACS) level security compliance process for network elements

• To liaise with those responsible for the standardisation of core/ mobile platform security, and the creation of new standards in this area

• To take responsibility for identifying security risk within the company, during day-to-day work, and to make sure that it is managed appropriately

• To ensure that security is designed in and not treated as an add-on and that all systems, services and products are compliant to BT’s security policies

• To act as a technical, subject matter expert on core or 5G RAN mobility platform security, when dealing with 3rd parties, suppliers and other parts of the business

CORE ROLE

  1. Understanding of the key security concepts, confidentiality, integrity, availability, accounting & audit trail, and how to apply them; good understanding of encryption techniques; preferably a recognised security accreditation such as CISSP, CISA/ CISM

  2. Proven track record, in a leading role involving complex platforms, systems and networks, either in BT or elsewhere, where the importance of security has to be recognised and understood

  3. Good understanding and ideally experience of IP core networks; an appreciation of the latest virtualisation technologies

  4. Good understanding of mobile concepts, and core network architectures, ideally with some hands-on experience

  5. Proven IT skills; ability to work with complex documents, spreadsheets & workflow management tools

RAN ROLE
