Why this role matters
The role holder is responsible for the planning and execution of e2e testing across the TSO Wifi & HH product portfolio. Working closely with lead consultants and the head of functional testing, the role holder will apply industry best practices, tools and techniques to deliver high quality products and components of products as required by the architecture, design and delivery arms of Wifi & HH.
The role holder is expected to work in teams consisting of BT FTE and/or subcontract test resources. The role holder may be responsible for assuring the quality of test plans and procedures developed by both junior members of the team and subcontractor staff.
The role holder will raise scheduling or environmental concerns with the Test Environment Lead to ensure environments are representative of live and available with associated test equipment at the correct time.
The role holder may be expected to provide input to the development of strategies enabling the future roadmap of Wifi & HH to be supported with minimal impact on project deliverables and will be expected to support improvement initiatives across the different systems.
The role holder will be expected to familiarise themselves with the different technologies used within Wifi & HH and maintain that familiarisation through continuously engaging with new developments as they are brought online.
The role holder will assist with the analysis of problems encountered during testing and reporting to the delivery team any issues that may affect project timescales.
The role holder will also be expected to identify and raise issues of concern with their manager prior to them becoming customer affecting.
The role holder’s primary concern at all times will be the delivery of a seamless customer experience.
The role holder should leverage the experience of the relevant BT wide professional communities to discharge these responsibilities, thus ensuring knowledge sharing extends beyond the functional boundary of the role. The role holder may also play a key part in the BT wide professional communities.
What you'll be doing
To role model good practice in project/product test teams.
May be responsible for direct line management and development of analysts and/or contractors.
To effectively prioritise own work across the different test environments, working with other test teams to achieve best business outcomes.
To input to the generation and implementation of improvement initiatives.
To input to strategies to support the future project/product testing roadmap.
To ensure best practice testing strategies are in place, maintained and followed as appropriate.
To work with lead test consultants to ensure that test plans within own area of responsibility are backed off with the design community, engaging early with architects and designers on new work.
To input to resource plans for the head of functional testing for own areas of responsibility, raising resourcing concerns as early as possible where requirements change.
To personally participate in and contribute to BT wide professional community activities where applicable e.g. knowledge sharing, best practice within BT and external industry.
To draft reports and make recommendations to managers and project sponsors.
To provide analytical and innovative input to projects/operational issues possibly including Root Cause Analysis of live incidents.
To support the transformation of TV & Broadband ways of working including automation.

Test management principles Including Agile, Continuous deployment and Behavioural driven testing
Good understanding of different test strategies and the business benefits/risks of each (regression, functional, non-functional, soak, etc.)
Has knowledge of current Wifi & HH products.
It would be an advantage to have skills or experience with:
Test automation tools such as Selinium, iTest, HP UFT, etc.
Test reporting systems such as HP QC, Jira etc.
CCNA or equiv exp
Networking and network packet analysis techniques
Technical Problem solving
Organisational and management skills

Able to communicate effectively with a number of stakeholders.
