Why this role matters

The Assistant Producer role provides a range of support for a Programme or Executive Producer and typically plans, manages, implements, creates and delivers content for inclusion in programming. You will be responsible for the smooth running of day to day tasks such as; production of all or parts of assigned live or recorded studio shows and/or outside broadcasts; assisting in gathering and producing elements for live and recorded programming such as: VT clips, graphics and research support.

What you'll be doing

Working with their assigned Producer/s and Executive Producer/s the Assistant Producer should:

  • Participate in developing concepts and content for assigned programmes, including; features, promos, graphics and all elements that reach BT Sport viewers.

  • Be able to produce, edit and write scripts, teases, features, and other elements for live and recorded shows.

  • Provide story ideas to generate programme elements, from concept to execution.

  • Pre-interview/ book potential guests for programmes.

  • Have a familiarity and working knowledge of production related television techniques.

  • Have a familiarity and working knowledge of VT co-ordination from a live presentation perspective and a knowledge of VT co-ordinating both studio and OB presentations (match and presentation)

  • Through story research, scripting, filming, editing and audio recording processes create engaging content

  • Supervise edit sessions and audio record sessions

  • Liaise with relevant members of production team to ensure delivery of content to deadlines

  • Liaise with suppliers and 3rd parties, to ensure project tasks are delivered

  • Liaise with customer(s) where appropriate

  • Contribute to administrative tasks in production process

  • Contribute to discussions around new ideas and initiatives and changes to workflows to increase efficiencies.

  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements

  • Education - Entry level qualifications or relevant experience

  • Relevant experience in Broadcasting/Production/Programming

  • A detailed understanding of the end to end broadcast process

  • Competent with technologies involved in production process

  • Knowledge of industry best practise and statutory regulations

  • A proven track record of scripting

  • A detailed knowledge and passion for a specific programme genre, e.g. Sport

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Able to work with talent unsupervised

  • Able to work in live television environment

  • Able to work ‘on-location’ unsupervised

  • Able to prioritise work-load to ensure programming delivered to deadline
