Why this role matters
Your job is to create brilliant consumer-focused content for the Technology section of BT.com (BT.com/Technology). Your content will help our customers better understand the benefits of their BT products and services, as well helping them get the most from their internet-connected devices and their time online.
What you'll be doing
Creating content that drives usage of BT products. You will research and write articles that help our customers understand the benefits of their BT products and services, particularly broadband, mobile and BT TV. E.g. ‘5 things you didn’t know about the new BT TV app’; ‘How to improve the wifi signal in your home’
Helping people get the most from their internet-connected devices and their time online. Your content will engage and educate audiences about their connected lives. E.g. ‘How to set up your smart home: Amazon Echo, Nest thermostat and more’; ‘How to keep your PC secure and stay safe online’
Helping with the video production process. You will work alongside the Digital Video Producer to create great content campaigns. You’ll also get trained up on video production, with the aim of being able to create your own short-form videos in future
Measuring the success of your content. You will track and analyse traffic data to improve your output against KPIs
Working with the social media team. You will work closely with the social team to ensure our digital content output is consistent and complementary across platforms
Creating great relationships. You will proactively build relationships with people inside BT, using digital content to tell interesting stories from across the company. E.g. ‘Behind the scenes at BT’s R&D department’
In the first 12 months you'll:
Create brilliant content to support a number of significant, above-the-line BT propositions (e.g. BT Plus)
Create a new range of positive, instructional content that helps customers make the most from their BT products
Create content campaign(s) that educates consumers about smart homes, the Internet of Things and other internet-connected themes
Build key relationships with, and influence internal and external stakeholders to improve access to BT assets and talent
Increase traffic to BT.com/Technology through a focused effort on organic search and other audience growth opportunities
We'll also need to see these on your CV
Significant experience in a similar technology or telecommunications-focused editorial role on a major UK website or app
Excellent knowledge of consumer technology, plus a genuine interest in the future of telecommunications
Strong editorial and creative skills - specifically, the ability to create and present content in innovative ways and generate ideas from scratch
Strong image research and Photoshop skills
Experience working with website analytics
Good understanding of SEO best practice
