BT Cyber Technical Specialist in Australia

The role holder will be responsible for supporting the System Engineering and Delivery of Security products and solutions for both BT and its clients globally to time, cost and quality. The Cyber Technical Specialist is a DevOps style role focused on supporting the iterative delivery of technical and cyber capabilities into BT’s global customer base.

Cyber Technical Specialists will be expected to support delivery teams in customer environments either remotely or alongside delivery staff to install new and evolve existing cyber capabilities and additionally provide their analytical skills to identify and exploit new security related data sources. Additionally they are expected to provide a 4 th line of support for existing deployments and support internal BT teams in delivering satisfactory outcomes to customer issues.

The role holder will leverage his existing DevOps and continuous delivery skills and apply them to bleeding edge cyber security technologies at a global scale.

Key Responsibilities:

· Assist with further developing the capabilities of BT’s principal advanced security platforms and offerings.

· To provide analytical and innovative input to projects.

· Design, build and maintain continuous delivery capability across a wide range of technologies.

· Assess platform requirements and provide recommendations on how to optimise use of available infrastructure.

· Provide assistance with deploying capabilities into customer environments based on continuous delivery methodologies.

· Identify useful sources of security data within a customer’s environment and assist with integrating them into deployed cyber capabilities.

· Create dashboards and reports based off wide range of telemetry and contextual data.

· Looking for opportunities to optimise the release engineering and continuous delivery frameworks.

· Promoting builds across multiple development, test, staging and production environments.

· Assist with creating the test data required to exercise various components.

· Work with customers to train them on new capabilities and evolve existing capabilities continuous deployment.

· Liaise with engineering teams within BT to maintain visibility of internal roadmaps and to provide feedback obtained from experience obtained from delivery and operations activities.

· Support sales initiatives in the form of technical presentations, demonstrations and proof of concepts.

· Maintain knowledge of Security and Cyber telemetry, log feeds and intelligence platforms.

Skills/Experience:

· Applied experience of scripting skills to find innovative approaches to problems.

· Extensive experience with continuous delivery environments and technologies such as Puppet.

· Scripting in a language such as Python or Bash.

· Great Linux skills.

· Understanding of network protocols.

· Experience deploying and supporting full stack applications including, frontends, backends, datastores, etc.

· Understanding of git workflows: branching, tagging, pull requests, etc.

· Understanding of Agile and scrum methodologies.

· Knowledge on how to use Docker.

· Knowledge on both public and private cloud technologies including AWS, Terraform, CloudStack

· Knowledge of the Elasticsearch and Kibana technologies.

· Knowledge of the Hadoop ecosystem and its various query engines such as: Hive, Impala, Pig.

· Understanding of how Spark works is desirable.

· Understanding of how Kafka works is desirable.

· The ability to work in customer environments.
